Written by Yoshiki Tanaka and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, The Heroic Legend of Arslan is a long-running manga series based on the ancient Persian legend of Amir Arsalan. Set in a fantasy version of Ancient Iran, the story follows the adventures of Arslan, crown prince of Pars. After his father the King, Andragoras III, is overthrown in a coup and Pars is lost to Lusitania, Arslan and his loyal servant Daryun, philosopher Narsus and his servant Elam, priest Farangis and musician Gieve set off on a quest to assemble a strong enough army to free Pars from the Lusitanians who are lead by the mysterious warrior known as “Silvermask.”
