Mika Ninagawa Tokyo Innocence

Tokyo Innocence is the latest photo collection from acclaimed photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa. The daughter of famous theatre director Yukio Ninagawa, she has enjoyed a vast amount of success both domestic and international with her photographic work and also as the director of the movies Sakuran and Helter Skelter. Her previous work has often focused on the more extreme sides of Tokyo life, but this new collection takes a look at the more playful side of the many cultural scenes that can be found in Tokyo. Encompassing cosplay, visual kei, and the evolution of otaku culture as it moves beyond an underground scene, Ninagawa turns her camera on the “innocent” side of Tokyo’s artistic and cultural life in this excellent new collection.
