March Comes in like a Lion is a comedic and heartwarming series that follows the intriguing story of a teenage shogi player named Rei Kiriyama. Somewhat friendless but not unkind, Rei strives to mature as both a shogi player and young man, especially as he grows close to the Kawamoto sisters Akari, Hinata, and Momo.
After meeting Shimada at the Sangatsu-cho festival for the first time, Akari and Hayashida each face a sudden turning point. Nikaido is full of spirit, as he wants to become “the man who defeated Soya” at the Toyo Open competition in August in volume 13 of Chika Umino’s manga which spans 180 pages.
