Written and illustrated by Eri Takenashi, Kannagi (also known as Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens) is the story of ordinary high school boy Jin who accidentally uses part of a sacred tree to carve a statue for a school art project. When he takes it outside, the tree suddenly transforms into a girl! This turns out to be Nagi – a deity charged with removing the impurities of the world. Nagi then begins living with Jin and together they focus on removing the “impurities” of the surrounding area.
