In the near future, a new technology that threatens the stability of the world has been created. IS, or Infinite Stratos, are high-tech powered exoskeletons with technology and combat capabilities that make them vastly superior to any other arms on the planet. In Vol. 12, Iris, the seventh princess of Luxembourg, arrives at IS Academy and orders Ichika to be her servant. Lingyin is none too happy and challenges Iris to an IS battle. Lingyin teams up with Houki but the two find themselves struggling against Iris’ fourth generation IS. To make matters worse, the changes that Houki has been secretly experiencing trigger an unknown squad of IS to kidnap her, and as a result, Ichika and the others are thrown into a fierce battle that would later be known as the Akatsubaki Incident!
