One hundred and fifty illustrators have been brought together to represent the “now” in the world of illustration for the 2020 edition of Illustration! Once again, there’s no shortage of artwork included that pulls inspiration from Japanese pop culture and how the world is changing, making it a time capsule of sorts for everything popular right now in the world of illustration.
This year’s edition features a cover illustration created by illustrator Daisuke Richard who is popular in Japan and abroad. The overall book design was handled by up-and-coming designer Tomoyuki Arima, and the 2020 text design has been updated for a more clear and impressive look.
Its 320 full-color pages are absolutely packed with artwork printed using the Brilliant Palette® printing technique so you can enjoy every subtle charm, color usage, and even brush stroke in each artist’s work. Also included is an interview with Hong Kong illustrator Little Thunder who has over 600,000 followers on Instagram and a talk with Daisuke Richard and Tomoyuki Arima about the production process of the book’s cover design.
