The series follows the adventures of Nai as he tries to find someone important to him who has gone missing – a man he was living with named Karoku, but the only clue he has is a bracelet. Eventually Nai meets the pickpocket Gareki who saves him from a mansion where he was being held prisoner by a Varuga woman called Mine and the pair begin travelling together. Now fugitives wanted by military security operatives, Nai and Gareki find themselves increasingly involved with the country’s most powerful defence organization – Circus.
