Ghibli Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind Storyboards Collection Volume 1

Although Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was technically finished before Studio Ghibli was established, it is often thought to be the genesis of the company itself and as such is often retroactively regarded as the first in the series of movies Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata went on to produce together. Like many of Miyazaki’s works, Nausicaä bears a strong environmental message and tells the story of a far future world which has been ruined by war and pollution. The titular princess Nausicaä must stop a neighbouring country from using a dangerous weapon to eradicate the giant insects which populate the nearby jungle. This is the first of two volumes which publish all of the illustrated storyboards which were used in the making of the movie. Presented as rough sketches that give an indication of how the finished scenes should look, the storyboard panels are also accompanied by production notes made during the course of their creation.
