Terror grips Tokyo as ordinary people, possessed by demons called Infernals, begin bursting into flames. It’ll take a new kind of firefighting team to tackle this threat. Enter the Special Fire Force – a newly minted, rag-tag team of firefighters assembled to take on spontaneous combustion wherever it occurs. The newest member of the team, Shinra Kusakabe, is a pyrokinetic who can ignite bursts of flames from his feet which give him superhuman power and speed.
