Seishu Handa is a 23-year-old calligrapher who has dedicated his life to the art and has become a master despite his young age. When an elderly curator criticizes his work at an exhibition for being “uninspired” and “boring,” he loses his temper and punches him, which results in his father sending him to live at a retreat on Goto Island near Kyushu. Having only ever lived in the city, he must adapt to a slow life in the countryside as he gets to know the unique residents who live in the village. Along the way, he begins to find his own style.
